|Marty Eisen graduated from California State University Northridge and began his teaching career as a Special Educator at Franklin Senior High. There he taught Biology, Physical Science, Life Skills, Algebra, and Health to students with mild/moderate learning disabilities. Moving to Granada Hills Charter High School (the largest Charter school in the nation), he continued to teach in special education and became a part of the Governing Board. After doing a research paper with a colleague on the topic of "Co-teaching," he became a true believer in its potential to improve the lives of teachers and students. Based on his research, Mr. Eisen was able to start a Co-teaching pilot at Granada Hills Charter High School. The data gleaned in the first year demonstrated true success for all participating individuals and led to increased co-teaching in following years. Mr. Eisen has the unique ability to connect with teachers (as he is currently co-teaching himself and has been identified by national experts as a model co-teacher) and with administrators (in his role as Coordinator of the program and on the Charter Board). He is able to bring this expertise to other schools as he trains them on the CTSS.
